To add your name to a slot, click the "Edit" tab above and you will get the chance to request access or login if you already access.

IMPORTANT:

  • Signing up on this Wiki is BINDING. Once you have clicked the "Save" button, you have signed up for those nights. Removing your name requires finding a sub to take your place.
  • Please do not remove your name from the schedule or change the dates.
  • You may only add your own name to an empty slot, or you may replace someone's name with your own IF you have arranged to sub for them on that night.

Dental SHAC Trial Public Health Education Sessions***

Date Volunteer (5:30pm - 7:00pm)
Wed Apr 8 Shruti Nagaraj

*Usually varies between 9:30-10:30, but the first wave of Salseros to come can head out first; Derm clinic usually finishes before the rest of SHAC

"WCC" in the "date" column means "Well-Child Clinic" - these are not regular SHAC nights but our job is the same.

"HF" in the "date" column means "Health Fair" - these are intermittent health fairs in the Triangle area for which SALSA interpreters have been requested.

"Assessment" columns are for new Salseros who have not yet completed their written/oral assessment with the coordinators for placement. If you sign up for an assessment be at the clinic around 6:00.

Only TWO assessments can be completed on each clinic night.

***Public Health is providing patient education sessions at Dental SHAC this semester on a trial basis. The Dental SHAC sessions will be different than medical SHAC - we will be doing a 10-15 minute presentation to the waiting room. Unlike Medical SHAC, all dental patients arrive at one time and wait to be seen, so the session will be shorter. The total volunteer time will be 1-1.5 hours (no individual counseling). About half of the patient population at Dental SHAC is Spanish-speaking. The clinic is located at the Orange County Health Department's Dental Clinic on the 2nd floor of Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro. The contact person for this clinic will be the publich health student organizing this pilot, Angela Palermo. You can contact her at : angela.palermo@unc.edu

If you have any questions or experience any problems, please contact the 08-09 SALSA coordinators:Zach Williams zacharyfw@gmail.com; Michael Dougherty mkdoughe@email.unc.edu; M. Alicia Overstreet Galeano mayra@med.unc.edu; and Dan Wurzelmann dwurzelm@gmail.com.
